The Conference on the Noble Qurʾan and the Challenges of the Age was held, managed by the Noble Qurʾan Forum, in the State of Kuwait on Monday and Tuesday, 1 and 2/5/2006 CE, with the wide participation of scholars and people of thought, and of the Shiʿi satellite channels. Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi participated with an intervention on the first day of the conference, which addressed the subject (The Ahl al-Bayt, the Civilizational Radiance of Islam), at which His Eminence Shaykh Muʿtasim al-Sayyid Ahmad (Sudan), His Eminence Shaykh Zakariyya al-Dawud (Saudi Arabia) and His Eminence Shaykh Hasan al-Balushi (Kuwait) presented research papers on the subject of the conference, concerning taʾwil, the contributions of Shiʿism to contemporary Islamic social life, and the Ahl al-Bayt, the protection from misguidance. .
The intervention of Sayed Mahmoud concerned taʾwil, and its gist was:
(The methods through which the Muslims' dealing with the Qurʾan has passed, as a legal instrument organizing human social life, have enriched the Qurʾanic experience, and among them were:
1/ The method of narrational understanding of the Noble Qurʾan.
2/ The exegetical method: which adopts the exegesis that relies on elucidating the meaning of the Qurʾanic verses, through various methodological orientations, but we place them within a single circle, the one that adopted the term tafsir as an expression of the way of dealing with the Qurʾan.
Both methods have their positive effect in enriching Islamic thought, and they have answered coherently the questions of the age through which they passed..
The time has come for the method of (taʾwil) to be strengthened, which benefits from both of the previous methods and answers the modern questions of the age, since the concept of taʾwil gives a farther horizon connected with the moving and vital reality of the human being.
Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi also managed two sessions in the workshop devoted to the Shiʿi satellite channels, namely the session of (Al-Manar Satellite Channel) of Lebanon and the session of (Al-Furat Satellite Channel) of Iraq. He participated with numerous interventions and proposals on the maturing of the Islamic work of the satellite channels.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Ahl al-Bayt (a) Channel, which was present at the conference, posed a question to Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi, namely: What is the instrument through which there can be protection from misguidance in understanding the glorious Book of Allah?
He answered briefly: The Ahl al-Bayt are the true guarantee against misguidance in understanding the Book of Allah the Exalted, through the manner of explicit statement and guidance on how to deal with the Noble Qurʾan, and the other manner is through the methodological rules that the Ahl al-Bayt (a) laid down for knowing the Noble Qurʾan.
Those who have strayed from the right way have adopted purely rational methods or linguistic methods; therefore protection is absent in this process, and there is no doubt that its outcome is deviation.
