Within the season of the Maʾtam al-Gharb in Bani Jamra, the program of the blessed birth anniversaries was held: the Greatest Prophet (s), Imam al-Sadiq (a) and Imam al-Kazim (a). Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi delivered a lecture on the third night, in the company of Imam al-Kazim (a).
He asked at its beginning: How do we become constructive elements in society?
In it he spoke about the effect of the good word in building society; at the outset he presented the features of the life of Imam al-Kazim, which was full of work and of secrecy in work, which gives us a lesson that we should bear responsibility before our societies however difficult the circumstances may be.

The good word is a simple effort, but it has a great effect in contributing positively to society; for encouraging those who work, respecting work, and appreciating efforts with a good word has an effect in consolidating those works and continuing them. As Allah the Exalted says: “Have you not regarded how Allah has drawn a parable? A good word is like a good tree: its roots are steady and its branches are in the sky. It gives its fruit every season by the leave of its Lord” (Qurʾan 14:24–25).
Moreover, the good word may contain scholarly content; so a person should strive in the path of learning and teaching in society for the sake of its growth and progress, and scholars should be respected, and wrangling and disputing with them should be left aside. He mentioned a hadith from Imam al-Kazim in this regard.
In the testament of Imam al-Kazim to Hisham: (O Hisham: learn of knowledge what you do not know, and teach the ignorant from what you know; revere the scholar for his knowledge and leave off disputing with him; and belittle the ignorant one for his ignorance, but do not drive him away; rather, draw him near and teach him).
Imam al-Kazim (a) practiced work and reform through the good word, and he was able to change some of the souls of those who bore hatred toward him.
