The weekly newspaper al-ʿAhd, in its special supplement for ʿAshura 1430 AH, on the sixth of Muharram, published statements by Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi on Islamic and national unity, together with Shaykh Salah al-Jawdar..

Among what came in the statement is the following:

Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi emphasized the necessity of looking at Islamic and national unity from an optimistic perspective, because of its necessity and importance in reaching and achieving goals, since our divine constitution stresses unified action in more than one place; therefore it is not possible to abandon that unity, whatever the differences.

Al-Mosawi stressed the existence of national figures who possess sincerity all along the line of unity with everyone, with complete impartiality; therefore Al-Mosawi sees that it is possible to overcome some of the problems, which can lead us into the straight path of working for that unity.
Regarding the problems that face unity, Al-Mosawi said: I believe that the problem facing unity is the exceptions and the confinement of the meetings for Islamic unity to a narrow scope that may not represent all parties, whether on the Islamic or the national scale, since every Islamic and national gathering has conditions.

He emphasized that unity is a state of strength in which cooperation prevails in what everyone agrees upon, and it is not important that there be agreement on all the contentious matters that inflame division and the splitting of ranks among the members of the Muslim society, explaining that unity harms its enemies on both the Islamic and the national levels, since each of them has enemies.
