Al-Nabaʾ al-ʿAzim Society for the Sciences of the Holy Qurʾan, within the activities of the Qurʾanic League in Bahrain, held “a Qurʾanic evening” in cooperation with al-Dhikr al-Hakim Society for the Sciences of the Qurʾan and al-ʿAsima Society for Islamic Culture
.
on Friday, the eve of Saturday, 10/Shaʿban/1428 AH, corresponding to 24/8/2007 CE. The evening began with a fragrant recitation of verses of the Holy Qurʾan by the reciter Qasim Ahmad; after that Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi delivered an exegetical speech on passages from Surat “Al ʿImran”, from verse 130–135, summed up around “Building the virtuous society on the basis of divine mercy”, in which he took up the aim of the Holy Qurʾan in its verses, which is to lead the Islamic society toward divine mercy through many Qurʾanic directives.
This is as in the verses he recited, which directed an address to the faithful on keeping away from social acts of unbelief and on the obligation of obeying Allah and His Messenger in order to attain divine mercy. The Sayed also showed the conduct that leads to this mercy, which is hastening towards the forgiveness of Allah through spending, suppressing anger and excusing people; this is on the positive side. As for the negative side, the Sayed dealt with it by explaining how Islamic society deals with “an indecent act” and the ways of remedying it, focusing on the principle of the remembrance of Allah and seeking forgiveness.
After that the evening moved on to another recitation by the reciter Mahmud Salman. Then the master of ceremonies put Qurʾanic questions to those present, and during that prizes were distributed to those who answered them, amid an interaction in whose atmosphere Qurʾanic knowledge prevailed. The evening concluded with a short speech by the president of al-Dhikr al-Hakim Society, in which he spoke about the Qurʾanic evenings that the Qurʾanic League has held and will hold, inviting everyone to attend them.
