The Noble Qurʾan Forum was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the city of Saihat, under the title (The Value of Life), and a group of researchers presented four papers. Participating on the first night (the night of 17 Ramadan 1425 AH) were His Eminence Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzim al-Muhtadi al-Bahrani and His Eminence Shaykh Faysal al-ʿAwami. The first presented the subject of the value of human life in the Qurʾan, and the second presented a study of the verses of fighting and the establishment of the principle of peace and non-violence. .
Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi made an intervention commenting on the research of Shaykh al-Muhtadi, in which he spoke about the importance of human life through the principle of dignity, by virtue of the saying of the Exalted “Certainly We have honoured the Children of Adam” (Qurʾan 17:70), and not the preservation of the self. Indeed, there may be life in the killing of some souls, as the Exalted said “There is life for you in retribution” (Qurʾan 2:179), and there may be honor in killing when it is connected with the defense of religion and life .. Therefore dignity is the more comprehensive principle, and for this reason Imam ʿAli (a) said: (Indeed, Allah has entrusted everything to the Children of Adam, except that one abase himself), and abasement is the opposite of dignity .. Therefore it is not a human being's choice to give up his dignity, which is connected with everything in life. We may find strange the Imam's saying that Allah has entrusted to the Children of Adam the doing of everything, excepting dignity from it, but with a simple reflective look we will find that the Imam is aware that this exception encompasses all legislation; therefore a human being cannot do anything except what is in the interest of his dignity and its strengthening. After that, Sayed Mahmoud commented on the research of Shaykh al-ʿAwami, saying that the study of peace and its grounding is a good thing, but what is more important than that is realistic research, which diagnoses this reality in which the great world powers seize control of the resources of people: is it a reality of peace, is it a reality of defense, or of silence .. And if it is this or that, then by what method and approach .. However, Shaykh al-ʿAwami stated that theoretical research paves the way for diagnosing reality.
