Tehran Radio conducted an interview with Sayed Mahmoud Al-Mosawi on the occasion of the birthdays of the heroes of Karbala for the year 1429 AH, on Saturday 2/8/2008 CE, in which he addressed the secret of love for the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and the reasons that call for celebrating their noble occasions every year. .
Sayed Mahmoud answered, concerning a secret in the love for the Ahl al-Bayt (a), that there are two aspects:
The first: the doctrinal aspect, in that the Ahl al-Bayt are the Imams whom Allah has purified with a thorough purification, and whom He commanded to be obeyed because they are those vested with authority. Moreover, the recommendation of them by the Messenger of Allah (s) in his saying (I am leaving among you the two weighty things, the Book of Allah and my progeny, my Ahl al-Bayt) counts as an endorsement, a matter upon which a religious commitment is built, and which calls for love and attraction..
The second: the real-life reason. Imam ʿAli (a) says (Hearts have been created with a natural disposition to love whoever does good to them and to hate whoever does evil to them). The Ahl al-Bayt (a) did good to the nation in its entirety, and their goodness was not confined to the people of the time in which they lived; rather, it encompassed all generations, because they offered sacrifices for the sake of the human being and established the values of justice and dignity for every generation. Thus what they offered is the summit of goodness; indeed, it is they who taught humanity true, divine goodness.
Regarding a question from Tehran Radio about the reason for celebrating the remembrance of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and commemorating their days ..
He said: These are the days of Allah the Exalted, in which a person remembers His friends in order to draw near to Allah. And because the Ahl al-Bayt are the light, exposing oneself to them is exposing oneself to the light; for whoever remains in darkness, his features will not be defined and he will not see the way, whereas whoever exposes himself to the rays of light, his features will be clear and he will have insight. So it is with us with regard to commemorating the remembrance of the Ahl al-Bayt: we commemorate it in order to renew our allegiance and to revive within ourselves the values they brought to humanity; we renew ourselves, like the river in which the water flows and so is renewed ..
Some of those who do not belong to the Ahl al-Bayt wish they had this blessing of ours, or envy us for it, because we possess stations at which we stop, which we make an admonition for those who possess intellect, and from which we take provision so that our lives may continue upon the guidance of Allah and the values of heaven.
