Knowing the tragedy of the killing of the suckling infant at Karbala is an entrance to the true religion, guidance to the straight path, a beginning of carrying the banner of the oppressed, and the building of a model of Godwariness on the foundations of the true wilāyah of the Ahl al-Bayt (a). The writer has dealt with the event of the martyrdom of the suckling infant with a vision of the Mission, intended to lead to the path of truth and guidance, because of what the question of the suckling infant and the extent of the violation contribute to distinguishing between the perpetrators of the crime and those against whom the crime was committed, so that the reader may thereafter take his correct doctrinal positions.
After explaining these considerations in the introduction of the book, the writer gave a definition of the personality of the suckling infant; then he mentioned the event in bare form and in the wording of his own pen under the heading (The Killing of the Infant); then he mentioned eleven narrations that came in the books of history and biography about the killing of the suckling infant, and that was a presentation of the origin of the event. Then the writer proceeded to the investigative steps concerning the event, beginning by mentioning (the Hideousness of the Crime) from two important aspects, the first of which was mentioning (the Burning of the Calamity), in which the writer clarified that the event itself contains aspects that make it painful and of severe impact on the heart, as he explained that the suffering of the caravan of Imam al-Husayn (a) in travel, the suffering of thirst that befell everyone and was severest on the children, the burning of the arrow's striking the suckling infant at the carrying out of the killing, and the tragic state that the scene painted—a suckling infant killed in his father's hands—all of that indicates the hideousness of the people who committed this great crime.
