The book's introduction:

Ziyarah is a bond of connection between the visitor and the one visited. We visit the graves and shrines of the Ahl al-Bayt because they are the divine succor and the lordly cause that we have been commanded to take as a means of recourse to Allah, the Exalted, and as a means of attaining the goals of this world and the stations of the Hereafter. By virtue of the merciful authority over creation that Allah Almighty has given them, and since they are living and provided for near Him, they pour forth gifts and blessings upon their visitors and care for them in the affairs of their world and their Hereafter.

Ziyarah is a doctrinal principle by which the covenant between the visitor and the pure Imams is renewed, as they are the firmest handle to which we have been commanded to hold fast, so that we may take hold of their waistband and be in their shade on the Day of Resurrection. It has been narrated that Imam al-Rida (a) said: “Every Imam has a covenant upon the necks of his friends and his Shiʿa, and part of the complete fulfillment of the covenant and its good discharge is visiting their graves. So whoever visits them out of desire to visit them and in affirmation of what they desired, their Imams will be their intercessors on the Day of Resurrection”([1]).

It is my pleasure to present to the visitors of Imam ʿAli ibn Musa al-Rida (a) this simplified Ridawi ziyarah manual, to help them perform his ziyarah according to what has been transmitted from the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and what has been derived from their blessed words.

I ask Allah, the Exalted, to grant the visitors of Imam ʿAli ibn Musa al-Rida (a) success and acceptance, hoping that they will include me, at his blessed shrine, in their supplication and ziyarah.
